Target Same Store Sales Misses

MINNEAPOLIS -
Target Corp. says same-store sales fell 1.2 percent in July, missing its own and analyst expectations. The discount retailer says results were near the low end of its expectations of a 1 percent decline to a 1 percent increase. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting same-store sales decline of 0.3 percent. The Minneapolis company says total sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 2 rose 4.7 percent to $4.57 billion. Quarter-to-date, same-store sales fell 0.4 percent while total sales rose 5.7 percent to $14.97 billion.
