Harley Survey

Some Harley Davidson Dealerships say Business is Up from Last Year

Harley-Davidson, Inc., the motorcycle maker was polled by Tickermine this week, soon after the company announced it now expects earnings per share (EPS) to decrease between 15% and 20% compared to fiscal 2007. Our researchers consulted 26 dealerships and asked: Which motorbike sells best, is the dealership sold out of any models right now and is business up, down or the same as this time last year? Our survey revealed that the Sportster 1200R was selling best, mentioned by 12 people or 46% of those polled. The 2008 XB12XT was mentioned by 3 people or 12% of the respondents and the same ratios apply to the Softail. The DYNA and Road King were each mentioned twice (12%) and the following were each mentioned once or by 4% of respondents: Crossbones, Cruisers, Extra Glide and the FXDF Fat Bob. Most respondents (24 people or 92% of those surveyed) said they were not selling out of any of these models right now. Two respondents or 8% said they were sold out of the Dyna and Sportster models. Interestingly, the majority (12 respondents or 46% of those polled) said business was better from a year ago. Seven or 27% said it was the same and 27% said it was worse than this time last year.
